Sammy, vocalist of Private Line

12/8/05 via email from Helsinki, Finland

jo: How would you describe Private Line's music to someone not familiar with it?

Sammy: Some call it neo-rock. We took the best parts from 80's bad boy rock, 90's alternative and added some elements from this century. We have noticed that no matter what kind of song we play together, it always ends up sounding like Private Line. And how does it sound? Better get a copy of the album...

jo: Is Private Line planning on touring the US anytime soon?

Sammy: Sorry to say, but I don't know for sure... There has been some serious talks to get our album out in the US, but nothing's inked yet. We are working on the next album at the moment and hope to come there at least when the album is out.

jo: What are you tour plans for the remainder of the year in general?

Sammy: Like I said we're recording the next album and all the tour plans are scheduled for that. This year we've been touring all around Europe. Italy, Germany, UK, Spain, Russia, Sweden, Finland etc. We also supported some of my favorite bands: Motley Crue, Alice Cooper and D:A:D.

jo: When are you inspired most to write music?

Sammy: Writing takes time. I'm always inspired when I don't need to think of any other things and I'm fully concentrated in writing. The inspiration doesn't depend on time or place. It can happen anytime, anyplace. Then you have to write it down before you lose it.

jo: What do you want your fans to get out of your music?

Sammy: Feelings. Any kind.

jo: How was the band name chosen?

Sammy: I started the band with a couple of my school mates in the mid-nineties. Ipicked up the name from an adult orientated news paper ad.

jo: Can you give me one word to describe each of you in the band?

Ilari: musician
Spit: punk
Jack: junior
Eliaz: mad
Me: myself

jo: If you were not a musician, what would you be doing?

Sammy: Don't know... but I'm a quite sure it would be something with show business..

jo: If you were an animal, what kind would you be and why?

Sammy: You think we're not? If so, I would be the King of the Apes.

jo: Is there anyone famous either alive or dead that you would like to meet and why?

Sammy: I don't like to meet dead people and if they're alive, there's a chance they are assholes, so I'd rather stay with my guys.

jo: What bands would you like to tour with?

Sammy: I used to say Alice Cooper and Motley Crue, but now as we have played with them the question gets harder... Ok, I say Rolling Stones and hope they take us to support them next year, heh.

jo: What bands are you currently listening to?

Sammy: I've been listening to bands like Avenged Sevenfold, My Chemical Romance, Funeral for a Friend...for example. And some Devin Townsend's & Butch Walker's stuff.

jo: Private Line's musical influences? Your personal influences?

Sammy: We all have our own personal favorites. Jack likes rock, Spit digs punk, Ilari is more into metal and industrial stuff. Eliaz likes Kiss for example. My main influences come from the 80's rock. Still we all know how we want
Private Line to sound so it's kinda meltdown in a good way.

jo: What is the craziest thing a fan has done to meet you?

Sammy: Don't tell...

jo: Do you have a motto or creed you follow in life??

Sammy: Nothing to mention.

jo: If you were invisible for a day what would you do?

Sammy: Get bored.

jo: Message for your fans?

Sammy: The new album is gonna be a killer! See you soon in tour.

Thank you to Sammy for taking time out of his very busy recording scheduling to answer questions. If you have not listened to Private Line yet, go check them out! Click on the photo to go directly to their official site, listen to some of their music on Myspace and visit Sammy on Myspace! They remind me of old school Motley Crue, but Sammy's awesome voice makes it all the more pleasurable! I will be posting a review of 21st Century Pirates in the next few days!
