B.I.T.E. (Beginning is the End) hails from New Jersey and as described in their biography on their official website their addiction for music, unadulterated mother fucking Hard Rock, is a disease that cannot be cured. I go the opportunity to interview Dean, their lead guitarist. Here is what Dean had to say!

Adam: Lead Singer/Bass

Dean: Lead Guitar

Roman: Rhthym Guitar

Tom: Percussionist

Jo: How long have you guys been together? 

Dean: 4 years

Jo: Where did you guys meet? In school?

Dean: Adam & Roman went to school together. Tom started with them in junior year. They always wanted to be in a band. Then they started getting press. The end of 2002 I put a sign in the studio and the rest is history.

Jo:  History of the band name?

Dean: B.I.T.E. stands for Beginning is the End. We will never stop making music and it is all just …We make songs and are always creating. Never ending band and this is only the beginning.

Jo: How often do you guys practice?

Dean: 4-5 times a week.

Jo: Is there a demo?

Dean: There is a demo of seven songs out of our 15-16 songs. It was done last year. But we are in the process of going into pre-production next week before we go back into the studio for our EP with Splat Rabbit.

Jo: Who are some of your musical influences?

Dean:  I would say for the band: Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine (musical) For me personally: System of the Down, from the 80’s from the Cure to today’s hard core.

Jo: Who writes the lyrics and the music?

Dean: Adam writes the lyrics. We come up with the music. Usually the music is created before the lyrics.

Jo: Describe your music with one word.

Dean: Extravagant

Jo:  Your personal favorite song to perform?

Dean: We all have different views. My favorite song is “I”.

Jo: If I could grant you three wishes, what would they be?

Dean: Speaking for the band. You bring us to the PNC Arts Center and we sell it out or Jones Beach…anything. The second wish I would say has to be: get us a major label deal and the third wish: get our music out to everyone in the world.

Jo: If you were a cartoon character, who would you be and why?

Dean: cartoon character? Oh boy. Johnny Bravo. Because I am suave.

Jo: If you could tour with any band, right now who would it be?

Dean: Nirvana if they were still around. Now I would have to say Deftones or Silverchair.

 Jo: Who has been the most supportive of your career?

Dean: Family is a big part. I would just say our self motivation. We support each other and that is where the spark comes, the catalyst. Family is number one.

Jo: Favorite band/artist?

Dean: I am listening to the new Nonpoint CD right now. Nonpoint and Folly.

Jo: Give me one word to describe yourself?

Dean: One word? Oh shit, I wanna say I am on the fine line of genius and insanity.

Jo: Other than being musicians, do you have other jobs?

Dean: I am a financial planning consultant. Tom is a waiter, Adam is an architect and Roman is a teacher.

Jo: If you could be a fly on the wall of anyone, who would it be?

Dean: Tom of Rage.

Jo: Where do you see the band in 5 years?

Dean:  If everything keeps going at this rate, we will be playing at Lolapalooza if it is still running.

Jo: Any message for your fans?

Dean: Stay strong in supporting us in every aspect that you can and thank you for everything.
